uLearn: This month I accompanied our BT's (beginning teachers) to attend a national learning conference - ULEARN. A condition of them attending was that they presented to their peers on an aspect of how they were embedding technology into their classrooms. Most BT's would have run a mile! I was so proud of the confidence these young vibrant educators had and of how lucky our tamariki (children) are to have them as part of their learning journey. We shared our TAKP story and how being 1:1 iPad has had such a positive effect on our students outcomes. The seed was also planted for these teachers to become ADE's in the future!
Insight: I was part of the organising team (myself Glen and Monique Storey, fellow ADE's) who with the support of our Senior Leadership team and teachers, hosted an "Insight Event" at our school. Over 100 educators from across the country were provided the opportunity to listen, view, experience and immerse themselves in our school culture. We ran targeted workshops centred on how technology and rich learning tools (such as multi touch books and iTunesU) have transformed learning for our students.
I also published the multi touch book 1:1 iPads Teaching and Synthesis - this 100 page multi touch book was my 'One best thing' project began at Institute and showcased iPad infused learning experiences, across all levels of our school. This book was a turning point in content creation for me as I was challenged to learn new tools and try to meld the iTunesU environment to do the things I wanted it too.....clearly more learning around design principles was needed.
