ADE Journal

A month by month reflection on my journey as an apple distinguished educator...

I had aspired to join the ADE Community for many years. The intake only occurs every two years and this was the first time I had applied. There is a two-part application process. The first part involved a written application addressing four headings:
  • How have you as an educator transformed your learning environment?
  • Illustrate how Apple technologies have helped in this transformation.
  • What successes have you seen with your learners?
  • How do you share these successes to influence the broader education community?

The second part was the most exciting part which involved producing a two-minute video that summarises the story told in the written application. Planning the video, capturing the photos, recording and keeping it to two minutes was a challenge.

Here is my application video (which I later edited, cutting the beginning and end to become "Transformative Education", a video I could then share
with colleagues and other educators in the future).
The first part of my ADE journey began in Singapore at the Asia-Pacific ADE Institute, a four day professional learning/networking event for the class of 2015.

The event was inspirational, other ADE's I had spoken too said they formed friendships for life and I totally understand why. This is a very unique community of like minded passionate people who are often not just the gurus but the
movers and shakers, and the quiet ground breakers!

I sat back and soaked it all in, I was filled with wonderings and ideas of how I could take back my new learning and embed it in my own learning environment.

Oh and meeting Cathy Hunt may just have changed my life. I mean that very seriously.....I wasn't to know that right then but my future was definitely shaped that month!

I had already published two resources on the iTunes Store earlier this year,
Magenta High Frequency Words and I Can Count.
