A month by month reflection on my journey as an apple distinguished educator...

The final month of our school year.
After working alongside the curriculum development team for the past few months to decide on the direction for our 'Skills and Attitudes' component of our Graduate Profile we have now produced our 'living' documentation. We expect this initial design to grow and change with feedback and reflection from teachers next year after using the documents in everyday classroom practice. We are not going for wholesale change but rather small incremental changes to deepen and affirm current teaching practises. We are wanting a common language articulated across both teacher and learners and we see our posters as a way of supporting this. Our reporting process will also now changed slightly with less 'tick' boxes on our student appraisals in support of a 'Skills and Attitudes' page on  individual student blogs, where students will record authentic evidence. A URL link to this page will be posted on their appraisal document which in turn is shared as as a part of our three way conference with parents.
Change of role: I was successful in securing the newly created position of Assistant Principal within our school for 2017 and also in gaining the opportunity to implement a Makerspace. I created a website as part of the job application as well as presenting my CV as a multi touch book, a process I thoroughly enjoyed as it inspired several of our teachers applying for positions to do the same, this lead to new learning for many. I will continue to develop this website alongside the new Makerspace. You can visit the website HERE
