Writing Prompt Books

These books have been created to use as an ignitor to motivate and engage children to think, imagine and write. 
The iPad may be the mode of delivery but I see these books (and devices) being embedded in everyday learning, sitting alongside pencil and paper (or writing book), the device is never an 'instead of' it is always an 'as well as' - simply just another tool for learning.

For 5 to 10 Year olds

​This interactive book provides 28 different ‘Would you rather’ writing prompts, each prompt has a list of sentence starter ideas, pop up visual cues and key words. There is a chapter that provides extensive word lists to support every author to craft their response. This resource will support all primary aged students regardless of reading ability as instructions and prompts can be heard as well as read.

For Middle to Upper Primary

​As well as the 44 thought provoking and highly engaging photos there is a question prompt to go with each, the prompt has also been recorded so that learners can push play and listen to the question. There is two extensive chapters of word support, the first is the Essential Spelling lists, including the commonly misspelt words and the second is a chapter with ‘words instead of said’ (which are initially organised into emotions). Every word in the lists can be pressed to show the Oxford Dictionary meaning to ensure learners are scaffolded to become discerning when choosing words.

​This is the first book in a series to support the development of independent writers in the early years. Each book has simple easy to follow instructions (both written and recorded to support beginning readers). Even though each chapter provides a word list linked to reading levels (Magenta, Red, Yellow, Blue, Green and Orange) learners can view and choose from any image within the book. Having high frequency sight word lists available throughout the book ensures learners have the scaffolding to construct sentences and experience success when writing.
